Cultural Plants and Trees Book (small)

The book Cultural Plants and Trees- A Study Of The Proposed U.S. Route 219 Corridor (1999), was produced by the Seneca Nation of Indians. A Seneca herbalist revealed important plant life, both as a source of food and significant medicinal purposes was threatened by the proposed U.S. Route 219 Freeway Alternative Corridor. Members of the Seneca Nation as well as non-Natives worked together to create this book which serves as a cultural and medicinal resource. This book presents the findings by providing a representative listing of culturally significant herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees that inhabit the Seneca Nation’s land.
